The Jessica Harrington-trained Wie Wunderbar (7/1) was a gutsy winner of the Harts Group Apprentice Handicap for jockey Keithan Kennedy.

The three-year-old daughter of Sea The Moon was last seen in action in Germany and was running for Harrington for the first time off a mark of 63. From stall 14, Kennedy rushed her up to be prominent, and this was a decisive move as she was able to relax up in the top. When passed by the eventual second, Sinbad My Dad Wie Wunderbar responded well to pressure and was victorious by a length and three-quarters at the finish.

“She came from Arqana about eight weeks ago. She’s a nice filly, she did everything right today and it was great,” said Harrington.

“We have the full-sister as well.

“We’ll see how she comes out of this. We’ll keep her in this grade, that’s where I’d say she probably belongs. We’ll try and get another one with her.”
