Williams Hoping For Lee Boost

Nick Williams is hoping Graham Lee will be available to partner Philson Run in the John Smith's Grand National at Aintree.

Lee rode the 11-year-old to victory in the Eider Chase at Newcastle last season but he may be required to ride Cheltenham Festival winner Joes Edge for Ferdy Murphy.

However, as Philson Run is currently on 10st 5lb while Joes Edge is on 10st 2lb, there is a small chance Lee may still be available to take the ride.

'There is no jockey booking yet,' said Williams. 'I'm hoping Graham Lee will ride but he is only a possibility if Joes Edge doesn't get in the race and it's luck of the draw there.

'We've missed the Midlands National as last year it just took the edge off him when he ran in the Scottish National so we go with a fresh horse this year.

'He's been there once before and he actually fell in the Becher but he wasn't really right that day and I'm hopeful that he will take to the National fences,' he told At The Races.
