Well-backed Wilton Mills Trier justified favouritism by two lengths in the Slaney (Mares) Pt-To-Pt INH Flat Race at Wexford.

Backed in from 11/2 to 100/30f, she tracked the leader Five Shiros into the straight and once Luke Murphy asked her for more, she ground Five Shiros down inside the final furlong.

Murphy soon sent her on and she was strong close home in increasing the margin to a couple of lengths for Paul Pierce.

Five Shiros had to settle for second at 4/1, just under two lengths in front of One Day In May (8/1).

Dromahane point-to-point winner Wilton Mills Trier was third on racecourse bow in a Cork mares' point-to-point bumper in April.

Murphy said: "She did that lovely.

"She probably learned a bit from the last day, the experience stood to her.

"It worked out lovely today - one of the Fogarty's (Five Shiros) went on after a couple of furlongs and it just suited us lovely following. Turning in, she just opened up lovely. When he (Barry Stone, Five Shiros) kicked on, I was keen to follow him.

"It is nice that the form worked out well (from Cork) and I fancied her strongly today.

"She won her point-to-point very well and the Pierces always liked her all the way through. She will make a nice chaser too."
