Wincanton gets go ahead

Sunday's meeting at Wincanton will go ahead after the track passed an 8am inspection on Saturday.

Clerk of the course Barry Johnson reports the track to be fit for action despite concerns about heavy rain in the region.

He said: "We had 15 millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours and the course has taken it really well.

"We have just showers forecast today and tomorrow now and we are not planning any further inspections.

"However, we will be keeping an eye on the weather as it is snowing at Newbury and while that is not forecast to get as far as us, we will be monitoring the weather."

Wincanton will be the only jumps action in Britain or Ireland tomorrow following the abandonment of Downpatrick.
