The Jim Bolger trained Pastilla went some way to justifying her expensive price tag when making a winning debut in the opening www.thetote.com Maiden at Dundalk this evening.

Ridden by Kevin Manning, the daughter of Pulpit (bought for USD190,000, somewhat unusually, as a three year old last November) was produced to lead early in the straight before staying on well for an easy four lengths win over fellow newcomer Dynaperformer .

Bolger was represented by Ger Flynn who later stated “Kevin (Manning) was delighted with her and she's off the mark now. She is a beautifully bred filly but took a bit of time to come to hand and Kevin said she'll improve plenty for the run.

“We'll see where she fits in now but she is a nice, good looking filly and this was a nice opportunity for her and she handled the surface well.”
