Winston gets the job done on Caspar Netscher

Dutch Art, currently disputing second favouritism in the market to be leading first season sire with Teofilo, behind evens favourite in the Stan James list, Dark Angel, had a winner at Beverley today when Caspar Netscher landed the opener.

Dublin rider Robert Winston was aboard Alan McCabe's juvenile in the TurfTV Betting Shop Service Maiden Stakes. Caspar Netscher was backed from as big as 20/1 in the morning into 100/30 and although outpaced early, he picked up to lead soon after passing the furlong marker in the hands of Winston.

The result was never in doubt there after, as Alan McCabe's youngster continued to increase his advantage, passing the post with two and a quarter lengths in hand over Last Bid.

"We had a good bet on him - we really fancied him," said McCabe.

"He's got a few tests to pass before Royal Ascot, but that's the road we are going down.

"He'll be entered in the Windsor Castle and the Norfolk Stakes as he's got plenty of speed.

"He could come back here first for the Brian Yeardley."

Dutch Art stands at Chevely Park Stud.
