Without Parole given Sussex aim Without Parole is set to take on older horses for the first time in the Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on August 1st. The John Gosden-trained colt took his 100 per cent record to four with victory in the St James's Palace Stakes, on his first run in Group One company. “He came out of his last race with no bother at all. He never missed an oat, but he never does as he is a very laid-back character. He goes for the Sussex Stakes now,” said Gosden. “We are happy at a mile, but I’m quite confident he will go further when and if he is required to.” Gosden reported Stradivarius to be on course for the Qatar Goodwood Cup on July 31st, having now recovered from an injury he sustained when winning the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. The four-year-old remains on course for the inaugural WH Stayers’ Million, having won two legs. He now has to win at Goodwood and the Lonsdale Cup at York to collect the bonus for connections. "I’m pleased to say he did his first canter (on Saturday morning) and he moved well, so hopefully that is all behind us,” said the Newmarket trainer. "He is a pretty brave horse, as he had the toe clip rammed up into the bottom of his foot. "I don’t know how it happened, but the other horse (Vazirabad) caught him late on in the race. He is fine, so we are looking towards the Goodwood Cup."
