The Aidan Melia-trained Wolf Prince (13/2) was a good winner of the Foley’s Bar & Off Licence Handicap Hurdle for jockey Conor Smithers.

Ridden prominently throughout, the 10-year-old never saw another rival and, although making a mistake at the last, still stayed on well enough to keep the Gordon Elliott-trained Dairy Force at bay to run out a 3 1/2-length winner.

Speaking after the race, jockey Conor Smithers said:

"He'd a good run on the Flat at Ballinrobe and we put the cheekpieces on him today.

"He's a genuine horse and stays this trip well, if you keep pressing on with him.

"I wasn't sure how much he'd find when he missed the last, but he saw it out well.

"He was a classy horse back in the day, and Aidan (leading up) has done a great job to sweeten him up."
