Homebred Wood Ranger continues to pay his way and the Willie McCreery trained gelding gained a second course win at Naas today, landing the JF Dunne Insurances Business Club Handicap for owner Noelle Walsh and jockey Bill Lee.

The son of Kodi Bear failed to sell for €10,000 as a yearling but has now collected prizemoney on all nine starts, today bringing his haul to €47,170 when making all for an all-out neck win over No More Porter

McCreery later reported “it's the first time Noelle and Jim (Walsh, owners) have seen him run - they bred him as well and I'm delighted for them.”

“We thought he was a bit lazy the last two times so we put the visor on him today and he loves this place. Every time he runs here he really tries and I'd say six-and-a-half would be ideal for him.

“He's a good honest galloper and he tries very hard and the shower of rain didn't do him any harm. Billy gave him a lovely ride in front and they left him alone to be able to set the fractions and do exactly what he wanted.

“He'd be a lovely horse for handicaps in England.”
