Worcester’s Wednesday fixture brought forward due to heat The British Horseracing Authority has brought forward Wednesday’s National Hunt fixture at Worcester because of expected high temperatures. With a heatwave forecast this week, the mercury is set to peak in the afternoon and the first race will now be held at 10.30am instead of 2.39pm, with the final race now taking place at 1pm instead of 5.17pm. Races will be held at 30-minute intervals and only one of the races will be allowed to divide. If a division is needed the additional race will start at 10am. The longer races will be held earlier on the card and the changes to the meeting have been made in agreement with staff at Worcester to support the welfare of all equine and human participants. The BHA will continue to liaise with racecourses over the coming days to reduce the risk of heat stress to horses and humans in accordance with the governing body’s Hot Weather Policy.
