Workout key to Rubi's Lexus bid Robbie Hennessy will give Rubi Light the green light for the Lexus Chase as long as his stablestar comes unscathed through a gallop next week. The six-year-old opened his account at the highest level in the John Durkan at Punchestown on Sunday, and is now one of the favourites for the Leopardstown highlight over Christmas. Having missed a couple of engagements with a virus, Hennessy is waiting to see how he reacts to a serious workout next week before fully committing him. Hennessy said: "I weighed him before and after the race and he lost four kilos and he's put all that back on. He's brilliant now, there's not a bother on him. "He did it the hard way, he was in front a long way out and it was understandable he got a little bit tired in that ground. After being on the easy list and missing a couple of bits of work, it was a hell of a run. "It looks good for the Lexus. At the moment he's a definite. We had him down at the beach this morning for an hour in the water and he loved a change of scenery. "We'll start back cantering tomorrow and give him a piece of work early next week, and if he comes out of that well you'd have to say he'll definitely go for the Lexus. "Unless he doesn't work up to scratch and tells us he's not up for it, at this stage he'll run. If he stays and wins the Lexus he deserves an entry in the Gold Cup but he won't be running in it for a day out. "He was third in the Ryanair last year when he was basically a novice, so he'd be one of the favourites for that."
