Wrote wins the Juvenile Turf for Ballydoyle

Aidan O'Brien's Wrote finally got Europe off the mark at Churchill Downs by winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.

The son of O'Brien's dual Breeders' Cup Turf hero High Chaparral scorched home under a power-packed Ryan Moore ride to take the spoils.

The pair had too much toe in the closing stages for Excaper, while Roge Varian's Farraaj (Neil Callan) stayed on gamely for third after travelling prominently for most of the one-mile trip.

Caspar Netscher was out of the places under Kieren Fallon, but pleased his trainer Alan McCabe.

He said on Twitter: "Good effort from Caspar, just didn't quicken off the ground. Too much rain this week, dammit. #lookoutnextyear"

Winning trainer O'Brien said: "We're delighted, he had a lovely run at Newmarket the last day (third in the Royal Lodge) and had been working very well. These races are very hard to win and Ryan gave him a brilliant ride."

"Ryan felt he (Wrote) will stay further and I'd imagine he'll be trained for the Classcis this year."

O'Brien meanwhile again played down speculation linking Moore with the stable jockey job at Ballydoyle. He said: "There's a meeting at the end of every year to discuss everything and that's when these decisions are made. We've been delighted with how this season's arrangements have worked."

Moore himself revealed: "He gave me confidence the way he travelled through the race. The horse had a very easy run round, it went smoothly and the ground felt good. He moved well and quickened up real well."
