Xtension on course for Curragh Classic

Xtension is likely to have a second crack at Classic glory in the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh on Saturday week.

The Xaar colt was an excellent fourth to Makfi in the Newmarket equivalent earlier this month on his reappearance and trainer Clive Cox reports him to be in fine shape.

He said: "Every step of the way he's been very pleasing. He did us proud last year and I'm delighted he's made such a pleasing seasonal debut."

He went on: "He's come out of the race really well. The horses that finished in front of us in the Guineas had the benefit of a previous start so hopefully we will find a bit of improvement from that.

"For the time being we'll keep him to a mile. We're looking forward to his next start.

"He's in the Irish Guineas. That's a week on Saturday and at the moment that's where we are going to be heading."
