Yard named after Causeway

Connections of Giant`s Causeway are paying tribute to the exploits of the multiple Group 1-winning hero by building a special yard in his name within the Ballydoyle complex.

When it is completed in November the `Giant`s Causeway yard` will house the 25 top three-year-old`s at Ireland`s leading training centre and each horse will have a specially constructed box complete with a `front` and `back` door together with its own mini paddock.

Trainer Aidan O`Brien revealed the plans at today`s Ballydoyle media open day and indicated there would be little difficulty in nominating the first dozen inmates.

'They usually pick themselves,' he said. 'We will discuss and nominate the remainder.'

Giant`s Causeway stole the headlines in the year 2000 when he became the first horse since Nijinsky to win five straight Group One races in a season - earning him the nickname of the `Iron Horse` - and now stands at the Ashford Stud in Kentucky.
