Yeats on course for Irish Leger

Aidan O'Brien has confirmed Yeats is still on course to run in the Irish St Leger at the Curragh on Saturday week.

The brilliant stayer, who won a historic fourth Gold Cup at Royal Ascot in June, won the Curragh Classic in 2007.

"He's in good shape. He's had a break since Ascot but is in good form and was at the Curragh a couple of weeks back. That's where he started and we're looking forward to taking bim back," O'Brien told At The Races.

Only very testing ground could put his participation in doubt.

"We'd love to run him but obviously he handles fast ground very well. He's in good order and if we can run him at all we'd love to. If it was soft it would be safe but might not be his ideal ground.

"If he didn't run we could maybe look at a race over Arc weekend - we're looking to the Curragh first at the moment fthough," the trainer added.
