Youth trumps experience in Tramore finale Youth trumped experience in the concluding handicap chase at Wexford where five-year-old Thewaybackhome (7/2 favourite) turned around Tramore form with 13-year-old Frgilligandvoyge. John Carr's veteran was bidding for a hat-trick and ran another gallant race, but it was the John Shinnick-partnered youngster, owned by the Rebel Deise Syndicate, who forged clear after the last to win by three and a half lengths. “His hurdling let him down badly, he just doesn’t jump well at all over hurdles. He was terrible and losing ground the whole time,” said winning trainer Terence O’Brien. “We said we’d throw him over a fence and he was much better. Today he wasn’t brilliant to be honest but he had jumped well at home and jumped well the last day in Tramore. “He missed the start at Tramore and was fighting a losing battle the whole way. Johnny felt if he had got a good start there he would have won it. “Today and extra two furlongs has probably helped as well. He was going away again in the end “He’s a grand horse, he’s no star. He’s only a five-year-old and he’s on the go a long way. We might get another race or two before the season ends. “We’ll probably go to Listowel if we find something there. He’ll be a horse for next year, he’s a fine big horse. “He has a nice mark over hurdles and if we get him going they should have plenty of fun.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
