Zaidan takes Chesham for Brittain

Clive Brittain's Zaidan maintained his unbeaten record with an impressive performance in the Chesham Stakes, the opening event on the final day of Royal Ascot.

Sent off at 7-1 following debut success at Doncaster, the juvenile was sent to the front a long way from home by Seb Sanders and quickly opened up an advantage.

Sonning Rose finished strongly up the rail but Zaidan already had the race in safe keeping and passed the post with three lengths in hand.

Sky Bet gave the winner a 25-1 quote for next year's 2000 Guineas.

Brittain said: "As always I'm the dreamer. Our long-term plan is the Kentucky Derby.

"At Doncaster and the way he is at home, he is so switched off and laid back. I have seen a different horse this time as he has got himself a little bit excited, but there's plenty of time to calm him down.

"He will probably go for a Group race and Kentucky will be on the cards.

"I said the next time I go back to Kentucky with a horse, it would be with one with a chance and he could be it."
