Zannda needs rain for Oaks bid Zannda is unlikely to take her chance in the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh on July 18 unless there is a marked change in the weather. Connections of the Dermot Weld-trained filly stressed she would only be considered for the Classic if there is enough cut in the ground, which at the moment would appear doubtful. "Plans for her would be entirely dependent on the weather because we would need current conditions to change," said Pat Downes, manager for the Aga Khan's Irish Studs. "Ideally, we want some ease in the ground for her and we don't quite have that at the moment so until we are certain of having her conditions, we have no immediate plans for her. "If we did get rain, the Irish Oaks would come into the reckoning, but it would need to be considerable." Zannda was last seen finishing second to subsequent Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Pleascach in the Group Three Blue Wind Stakes at Naas eight weeks ago.
