Scotland hosts its biggest and richest jumps meeting this weekend and its highlight, the Scottish Grand National, is a race synonymous with throwing up a big-priced winner. Our resident Formscan tipster Stephen Harris has taken a deep dive into the form and unearthed a 25-1 fancy. He also offers his best bets at Newbury, where 2000 Guineas potentials are on stage in the Greenham Stakes.

In Ireland, Navan and Limerick host decent Flat action and Editor Vincent Finegan identifies his strongest fancies, including a contender which has been sitting in his tracker since last July.

With plenty of value up for grabs this weekend, bet365 are offering you €/£30 in free bets to wager on the action which you can claim below:

Stephen Harris’ UK Tips

Threeunderthrufive 15:35 Ayr Saturday

Paul Nicholl’s stayer has become well handicapped after a relatively disappointing season, but he has had excuses on bad winter ground on a couple of occasions and might just relish this step up to 4m for the first time in a nine race career over fences.

Chaldean (nap) 14:40 Newbury Saturday

Andrew Balding holds this strapping 3-y-o in the highest regard at home, with the 2000 Guineas very much on the agenda next month at Newmarket. He is sure to be fully fit for this seasonal reappearance at Group 3 level, and his smart turn of foot should be seen to maximum effect on the drying ground at Newbury.

Israr 13:30 Newbury Saturday

John and Thady Gosden’s progressive performer ended last season with a below par effort on deep ground at Doncaster in November, but all of his previous form through the summer months marked him down as a smart performer to follow over middle distances, and he can make a winning reappearance at Newbury on Saturday.

Vincent Finegan’s Ireland Tips

Ballysax Lil’ Mick (nap) 14:55 Navan Saturday

Ballysax Lil’ Mick has been on my radar since finishing third in a maiden at Bellewstown last July. The winner and second from that race have since won handicaps off ratings in the 70s and this fella should also win before long with a mark of just 56. He ran better than his finishing position suggests at the Curragh last week (led 1f out) when the heavy going took its toll in the closing stages. A slightly shorter distance on better ground here should help produce a big run.

Barometer 17:30 Limerick Saturday

Barometer didn’t get to the track until he was five, so he is relatively lightly raced for an eight-year-old. He proved a model of consistency on the flat last summer with a number of placed efforts either side of a win at Tramore and with his fitness assured coming off a jumping campaign he looks a major contender.
