Admired Beauty gets up on the line for Slattery The Jim Bolger-trained Admired Beauty (20/1) got off the mark at the fourth time of asking for rider Andy Slattery in the opener at Naas. The daughter of Blue Point was second on debut in a Curragh maiden that has worked out well since, but has been slightly disappointing since. However, she showed the benefit of the step up in trip to a mile to snatch victory from the hands of Ted's Turn, who bossed the race throughout and looked to be the winner. But under a strong Slattery drive, Admired Beauty got up at the post to win by a nose. Speaking after the race, assistant trainer Ger Flynn said, "It was good to get that. We gave her a little bit of a break after Cork the last day. We freshened her up, and she's come back out of that really well. It's a mile today, and Andy said she really relished the trip and the ground. She showed us today what she showed us on the first day. So after the little break and bringing her back, that's made all the difference. She's a filly for the future. She won snug now in the end; he was just hands and heels. He didn't want to beat her up going to the line. Andy likes her a lot." (Quotes from John O'Riordan)
