Affinisea, John Oxx's promising once-raced maiden winner, will miss the rest of the season after suffering an injury.

A son of Sea The Stars, the four-year-old made his belated debut at Roscommon in early July and ran out a most impressive winner, beating smart dual-purpose runner Macnicholson.

Oxx had hoped to press on with his talented colt, but he will not return to competitive action until 2016.

"He suffered a hairline fracture about 10 days after he ran," said the trainer.

"It's nothing too serious and hopefully we'll have him back next year, but time is going on for him now as he'll be a five-year-old next season with just one run under his belt.

"He is a very nice horse and we won't give up on him just yet."
