The Sean Aherne trained Get It Right made all under jockey Sean O'Keeffe to win the opening MC Roofing And Guttering Handicap Chase at Limerick.

Twice placed over hurdles, the seven-year-old son of Getaway had hinted that his turn was near when finishing third over fences at Tramore last month.

In front from the outset, the gelding jumped really well under O'Keeffe, kicking clear with nearest challenger Crowsatedappletart after the third last.

The latter horse looked a big threat when closing right up on the run to the penultimate fence but, big jumps at both that and the final obstacle allowed Get It Right keep on strongly for a one-and-a-half length win.

Trainer Sean Aherne said: "He had a race at his mercy at Bellewstown last year so it was great to get a race with him.

"He is an idle oul' fella so we tried something different by putting cheekpieces on today, and it worked. The five fences down the back straight are a big advantage here.

"He had been frustrating and had a lot of problems but we're delighted to win. He likes that top of the ground so we'll keep going for the summer."
