Paul Gilligan's Buddy One, who was a more than creditable fourth in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham, has Aintree as his target before embarking on a chasing career.

The 40/1 shot certainly outran his odds behind fellow Irish raider Teahupoo and Gilligan is keen for another trip across the Irish Sea.

He said: "Buddy One is in great shape and is back doing his routine canters and all looks good. It was a great run and I was happy with all our horses which ran at Cheltenham.

"We will wait and see but he will probably go to Aintree for the Grade 1 three-mile race on the Saturday.

"Next October he'll probably start off over fences close to home at Galway and, please God, get back to Cheltenham again next year. We want horses to get to those places."

Buddy One has three hurdle successes in his locker including in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham in November.
