Air Force lands in Down Royal The Charlie Mann-trained Air Force One makes the trip over the Irish Sea to tackle five rivals in the Guinness Chase at Down Royal tomorrow. The eight-year-old gelding sprung to prominence when landing the Grade 1 Ellier Developments Champion Novice Chase at the Punchestown Festival in 2008, and beat all bar Madison Du Berlais later that year in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury. However the German-bred, who will be ridden for the first time tomorrow by P J Toole, has been mainly disappointing since then with a number of niggling problems hindering his progress and was an early casualty at Doncaster last month. One Cool Cookie, third to the Dessie Hughes-trained pair Vic Venturi and Black Apalachi at Fairyhouse last month, heads the opposition in this three and a quarter miles event. Oulart, Selection Box, Window Of Hope and Goinforporter complete the sextet.
