Al Ferof wins at Sandown

Al Ferof (4/11 fav) had to fight hard to see off For Non Stop in the Markel Insurance Henry VIII Novices' Chase.

Paul Nicholls' grey jumped superbly throughout and moved through to take up the lead under Ruby Walsh at the second Railway Fence.

It all looked plain sailing as he kicked on turning for home but For Non Stop (10/1), who hadn't jumped the Railway Fences that well, was still travelling powerfully and a fine leap at the last almost took him alongside the leader.

The pair settled down to fight it out up the run-in and with both horses giving their all, there was only a neck between them at the line.

The front-running Lancetto was well-held in third but ran a good race in defeat, and in turn was well-clear of the remainder.

Nicky Henderson's Eradicate made several mistakes and was well-held, whilst Alan King's Lidar still had a chance turning in but was outpaced and soon left behind.

Sky Bet left the winner unchanged at 6/1 for the Arkle, with For Non Stop introduced into their betting at 14/1.
