Irish rider Johnny Allen has landed his second Group 1 victory within a week in Australia.

The former National Hunt jockey has now won ten Group 1 races since switching his attentions to the Flat in Australia.

Allen rode his first sprinting winner at the top level when partnering the James Cummings trained Trekking to win the A$400,000 Goodwood on the final day of the Autumn Carnival at Morphettville in Adelaide.

Trekking also provided Allen with his first winner for major owners Godolphin on only his second start in the all-blue silks.

Seven days ago at the same course Allen landed the Group 1 South Australian Derby on Russian Camelot. That three-year-old colt is now one of the favourites for November's Melbourne Cup.

Johnny Allen spent a period of 14 days in self-isolation when travelling from the state of Victoria to ride at the Autumn Carnival in Adelaide for the past three weeks. He will now be required to do another 14 days of self-isolation on return to his home in Ballarat, Victoria.
