Amanha scores for McLoughlin & O'Hanlon Amanha appreciated a drop in class when adding to a Roscommon maiden win last summer by landing the Navan Members Mares Handicap Hurdle. The Dermot McLoughlin-trained mare finished in mid-division last time at the Dublin Racing Festival but made smooth headway here to challenge early in the straight. The 17/2 chance, available at 16/1 earlier in the day and further supported on track from 12/1, led approaching the last and was driven out by Paddy O’Hanlon to beat Fairyland Opera by three and a quarter lengths. Catchabird kept on well on the run-in to finish a further two and three-quarter lengths back in third. McLoughlin said, "Paddy said she travelled into the race well. I was a bit concerned when I got here about the ground but she’s after getting stronger and she finished out the race well. “We maybe threw her in at the deep end the last day but that was a competitive race today and she finished out well. Onwards and upwards hopefully. “She likes nicer ground so we’ll aim for something at Fairyhouse or Punchestown.” Quotes by Gary Carson
