Amazing Maze The brilliant mare Asian Maze justified 8/13 favouritism when landing the Grade 1 Whitewater Champion Stayers´ Hurdle by four and a half lengths from 100/1 outsider Kerryhead Windfarm. 'She stuck to her task very well and jumped great - maybe even a little better than at Aintree,' said winning trainer Tom Mullins. 'Ruby said that perhaps the three miles was catching her out today, which was a surprise, but that at two and a half miles it felt like she was going to win by a distance. Maybe she was also feeling the pinch of Aintree, it was only two and a half weeks ago. 'We´ve got plenty of time to think about what she does next season, but we might start off with a couple of runs over two miles, maybe in something like the Hatton´s Grace. 'But her season may not yet be over, she could still go for the French Champion Hurdle or the Queen Alexandra Stakes over 2m 6f at Royal Ascot.' Jockey Ruby Walsh added: 'She´s probably better going over a bit shorter trip, at the end of it she´d done enough but just got there through sheer guts and determination. I would have to say that the course have done a fantastic job on the ground here - it is in great condition.'
