Former champion jockey McDonogh held the colt son of Sottsass up in rear-division before progressing to lead on the stands’ rail a furlong out, before scoring by 5.5 lengths from stablemate Grey Sands. After his first ride of the new year McDonogh mentioned "it’s great to be back, I had a nice little break with the family and it’s good to be back. He won nicely, he was up to a mile today and with the visor on. "I thought the pace was strong and there might have been a pace collapse. I was happy to sit and bide my time.
