Antrim Coast secures victory in Fairyhouse The Rory Devine-trained Antrim Coast (6/1) was successful for the first time since May 2024 with victory in the Oneills.com Beginners Chase, with jockey Danny Mullins on board. The eight-year-old son of Presenting made some errors along the way and allowed the JP McManus-owned Kainsbourg to lead over the last before pegging him back in the closing stages to win by three-quarters of a length. Speaking after the race, trainer Devine said, “He was entitled to do that, he had loads to experience,” said Devine. “We thought with his experience we’d put it to good use and I thought Danny was brilliant on him today. On getting worked up beforehand, he added: “He’s that type of horse. Travelling here he was grand until we dropped the back door and then he started to sweat. “We had to walk him around and around and then he likes to go down early. “Those small fields suit him. We’re just starting to get to know him and hopefully he can kick on from here. “That’s my first jumps winner, we’ve had four on the Flat. Funny it’s all the big tracks, three at the Curragh, one at Leopardstown and one here so we’re keeping good company. “I only have him and another one for jumping, it’s mostly Flat. We’ve only ten in at the minute. We’re trying to get going and build it up as much as we can.” (Quotes from Gary Carson)
