Approach Tops Star-Studded Field

Newmarket racegoers look set for a treat on Saturday as all the major contenders have been declared for the Darley Dewhurst Stakes.

Irish handler Jim Bolger will saddle the unbeaten National Stakes winner New Approach as he tries to follow up on his success with Teofilo last year.

The Galileo colt could clash again with Godolphin's star juvenile Rio De La Plata, who finished a length and three-quarters adrift at the Curragh.

Rio De La Plata has since gone on to Group One success in France, but Godolphin have warned he will only run if the ground is suitable following substantial rain at the track on Tuesday.

Raven's Pass, who won the Solario Stakes by seven lengths, will also be defending an unbeaten record as he makes his first start at highest level for John Gosden.

Brian Meehan's impressive Acomb winner Fast Company and Mark Johnston's Champagne Stakes winner McCartney are also take their chances.

The Paul Cole-trained pair of Goffs Million winner Luck Money and Moynahan are among 11 declarations, as is Mick Channon's Superlative Stakes winner Hatta Fort.

The field is completed by Middle Park winner Dark Angel, Dubai Meydan and Aidan O'Brien's Greatwallofchina.
