Arc runner-up still has King George option The King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes remains a possibility for In Swoop, after he was left in Ascot’s midsummer showpiece at the latest forfeit stage. Trainer Francis-Henri Graffard is no hurry to make a decision as to the four-year-old’s participation in this month’s Group One over a mile and a half. The Chantilly handler reports In Swoop — last season’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe runner-up — to be fine following his run in Sunday’s Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, in which he was sent off favourite but finished fourth behind the Aidan O’Brien-trained Broome. “He’s come out of the race very well,” said Graffard. “We left him in the King George at the forfeit. We’ll see what we do. We’ll keep the option open. “There is also a race at Deauville for him at the end of August. We’ll see.” Broome is one of six left in the race by Aidan O’Brien — along with brilliant Prince of Wales’s Stakes winner Love, wide-margin Oaks scorer Snowfall, Mogul, Japan and Santiago. Others among the 20 remaining are the first two in the Irish Derby — Charlie Appleby’s Hurricane Lane and the Martyn Meade-trained Lone Eagle, while the Godolphin trainer also has his Epsom hero Adayar. Coronation Cup hero Pyledriver, Hardwicke Stakes winner Wonderful Tonight, King Edward VII Stakes scorer Alenquer and Eclipse-placed horses Addeybb and Mishriff add to what is shaping up to be a top-class renewal.
