Arrive early & get in free at Tipp

Tipperary is gearing up for its “Super Sunday” meeting this Sunday October 2 with top class Flat and National Hunt action on an eight race card, and those who arrive early can see all the action for free.

In order to encourage people to come early, Tipperary Racecourse is offering free admission to the first 100 people through the turnstiles.

The regular entry charge is €15 for adults and €10 for OAP’s/Students, with the option of a €5 Tote betting voucher or €5 food voucher. All accompanied children under 18 are free.

Racing journalists Damien McElroy and David Byrnes will preview both the card at Tipperary and the action at Longchamp in the parade ring from 12:45pm, and there will also be interviews with trainers and jockeys.

The Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe card will be shown live on the big screen, while another attraction will be the presence of the successful Tipperary Minor Football team with the Tom Markham Cup. The gates open at noon and the first race is set to get underway at 2pm.

The €65,000 Group 3 Coolmore Stud Home Of Champions Concorde Stakes is the highlight on the Flat, and a current entry of 19 bid to follow in the path of last year's winner Emulous, who subsequently landed the Group 1 Coolmore Fusiachi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.

There are three Graded races over jumps including the €52,500 Friends Of Tipperary Hurdle, with Istabraq, Solerina, Harchibald and Go Native among the previous winners of this Grade 2 event.

This year’s race has attracted a decent entry of 11 including last year's winner Donnas Palm and the Grimes Hurdle first and second Captain Cee Bee and The Real Article.

Galway Hurdle runner-up Fosters Cross, and Luska Lad could also take their chance.

Cheltenham Festival winner First Lieutenant is the eye-catching entry among the 12 in the Grade 3 Like A Butterfly Novice Chase, while there are also a dozen entries in the Grade 3 Dolores Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle including recent Fairyhouse winner Steps To Freedom, Tavern Times and Carlingford Lough.
