Ascot on the cards for Concorde

Majestic Concorde could be Royal Ascot-bound following his valiant effort in the Chester Cup.

Trainer Dermot Weld is considering sending the dual purpose performer to the Berkshire jamboree after he was only beaten a length in fourth place behind Mamlook in the Roodee marathon on Wednesday.

It was a pleasing effort as it was his first outing since he won a two-and-a-half-mile chase at Sligo in early October.

"He had plenty of weight for a seven-year-old and he'd been a long time off so it was an excellent run by him," the Curragh handler told At The Races.

"It's a possibility he'll go to Royal Ascot as he's an out-and-out stayer."
