Denis Hogan's Autumn Twist gained just reward for some consistent efforts when registering a first win over flights in the opening Killarney Avenue Hotel Maiden Hurdle at the Kerry venue.

Rated 113 after five previous outings over jumps, the four-year-old had ben somewhat unlucky when finishing runner-up despite a slipped saddle at Clonmel last month.

Prominent throughout under Daniel King, the Golden Horn gelding headed leader Young Churchill after jumping two out.

Even a mistake at the final flight did little to halt his momentum, as the 11/4 chance stayed on well to win by two-and-a-quarter lengths from the fast finishing Lodge Man

Daniel King reported: "It was a bit unfortunate what happened him the last day but it got another run into him and he had experience coming here today.

"It all went simple enough, he travelled nicely, jumped away and picked up when I asked him. The only worry when he was awkward at the last but he did it nicely in the end.

"He is improving and hopefully there is plenty more fun to be had with him.

"The ground is well watered but they aren't going down very deep into it."
