Aviatrice continued on a sharp upward curve when landing the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cooley Fillies Stakes at Dundalk this evening.

The daughter of Phoenix Of Spain impressed when landing a handicap by nearly five lengths here last month and took this step up to stakes company in her stride.

Luke McAteer ’s mount was well supported having been 15/2 overnight and was sent off a 7/2 shot for this mile event.

She quickened to lead just over a furlong out and despite edging right inside the final furlong, kept on well to score by a length.

There were plenty in contention for the minor honours with Jancis taking the runner-up spot and 5/2 favourite Naomi Lapaglia just a nose back in third.

Winning trainer David Marnane said, “She's a very good filly and she's getting better. She travels well and it is the end of the season too. I think there is a lot more to come.

"Her fractions here last month were very hot.

"She's a brilliant filly and improving, she's tough. She loves that surface and will make a better four-year-old.

"She's in the December Mares Sale, so she is going to go there. It is the terms of the syndicate again, a bit like East Hampton last week.

"I would love if somebody bought her and kept her with us - that would be the dream.

"She is going to be a valuable mare now."
