Ayr Gold Cup next up for Mattmu All roads lead to the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup for Mattmu after he got his racing career back on track with victory in the Great St Wilfrid Handicap at Ripon on Saturday. Trainer Tim Easterby has had Scotland's prestigious six-furlong handicap next month as the target for the five-year-old after failing to attract mares at stud. "He's fine and has come out of it well. I was delighted," said Easterby. "The Ayr Gold Cup is the aim. He'll probably won't run again until then. "That is what we've been aiming for since he got back into work. "It was a good performance on Saturday, though the race was two seconds slower than the consolation."
