AYR OFF AT WEEKEND Directors of Scottish racecourse Ayr have called off their meetings on Friday and Saturday as a result of the foot-and-mouth crisis. While the course does not fall within one of the exclusion zones the directors decided that being part of a large agriculture area they would not run the risk of bringing the highly contagious disease into the region.'As we are a county market town the committee has decided racing will not go ahead because of the foot and mouth outbreak,' course spokesman Irvine Anderson said. 'We have an extra meeting on March 19th. We will continue to monitor the situation and will make a decision on Tuesday,' he added.
