Bachasson set for a break Early Cheltenham Gold Cup faller Bachasson is unlikely to run again this season. The seven-year-old grey had won his only two other starts this campaign by a combined total of 37 lengths, prompting connections to aim high. However, the dream barely got off the ground as he fell at the second fence. "We'll probably put him away for the year," said part-owner Colm O'Connell. "We ran him in the Gold Cup because - why not? We've been saying jokingly that if he'd stayed up he'd have won. "We were keen to run and Willie (Mullins) and the lads let us. There were only two options for him and we were tempted by a runner in the Gold Cup. "When you watch the race with a runner in it, it is so different. I've been watching racing for 30 years and you honestly don't realise how quick they go throughout, the whole way. "There's no hiding place, no getting a breather. There's no other race like it and the first two (Native Rive and Might Bite) were incredible."
