Bamako Beach ploughed a lone furrow up the far rail to run out a decisive winner of the RFL Steels Stakes (Listed Race) at Naas.

A beaten favourite in France last month, the Michael O'Callaghan trained three-year-old was subsequently gelded.

Making his reappearance here and fitted with a first-time visor, the Jamie Powell partnered son of Sands Of Mali was sent to post 3/1jf.

Breaking smartly, Bamako Beach made just about all the running up the far rail, as an octet of rivals all elected to come stands side.

Keeping on well from over a furlong out, Bamako Beach scored by four-lengths from Big Gossey .

Trainer Michael O'Callaghan said: "Gelding has done the trick. We did that three days after the race in France. He's a very good horse. He always has been. He's getting faster and I think he could be a very good sprinter next year. He handles that ground but he wouldn't want it fast. As he strengthens up next year, he could be even better. He's clear winded, has a lot of speed and is a very good horse. Six-furlongs looks his trip now that it's all coming together."
