Baragry saddles first track winner with Carry On Heidi Dual point-to-point winner Carry On Heidi stayed on well to claim the mares' maiden hurdle over an extended two and a-half miles in Clonmel. She gave handler, and ex-jockey, Jerry Baragry his first racecourse success at 20/1. The five-year-old made good headway for Darragh O'Keeffe to take over before two out. O'Keeffe kept her rolling on the run-in to hit the line with a length and a-half in hand over fast-finishing Two Pair (20/1 - 14/1). Katie Daniels was almost three lengths back in third at 25/1 from 40s. Baragry said: "She won the Gain Mares Final (in Ballynoe) last year and ran well last month at Kilbeggan, but got a kick below at the start and was knocked out for three weeks. Fair play to her as she is still short of work, but isn't too bad. "We knew she'd be in the first three today, but Darragh said he was cantering all over them all the time. This is lovely and the farther (in distance) the better. She loves soft ground too so we're hopeful she will go a bit of a way." He added: "I have my licence for years, but haven't had horses good enough to win. We ran horses now and then but I have a good few point to point winners trained. "I trained horses when I was still riding in point-to-points, so I go back a long way and Shane (son) does all the work now. He rides her most mornings, I ride her at weekends and Jennifer my daughter also rides her. "We could have sold her several times, but want to keep her. We'll go again soon and there'll be plenty of lads to tell us where to go next." This was Carry On Heidi's third racecourse start having been unplaced in a bumper at Cork and then taking a remote third over the minimum trip in a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan last month. Bargary rode 99 point-to-point winners in his career. Additional reporting by Tom Weekes
