Barnavara saw out the ten furlong trip well to bag a Group 3 success in the Al Shira’aa Irish EBF Jannah Rose Stakes at Naas this evening.

Shane Foley bounced out and led on the Calyx filly, who had won a Listed contest over a mile at Navan on her last outing.

The well-backed Faiyum 2/1 into 10/11, tried to throw down her challenge a couple of furlongs from home but always looked held by the Jessica Harrington-trained filly in the closing stages.

Barnavara galloped on strongly in the final furlong to record a length-and-three-quarters success at odds of 11/4.

Harrington said:- “She loves running like that and she’s probably now just growing into herself. She’s a proper filly now.

“There was always a doubt that she mightn’t stay being by Calyx and everything out of the mare hasn’t gone further than nine furlongs.

“We’ve won a Listed and we’ve won a Group 3 so she’ll move up the grades. We could look at France and there is also the Snow Fairy (at the Curragh, August 30th).”
