The Ado McGuinness-trained Beau Army (9/1) was a four-and-a-half-length winner of the 1Xbet.ie Racing Legacy Handicap for jockey Chris Hayes. The three-year-old daughter of Invincible Army was a good third in Killarney two starts ago, and the form of that race has been franked since, but disappointed the last day in Gowran Park. However, jockey Chris Hayes was determined to be prominent throughout and gave a good front-running ride, and the horse picked up when asked to go on by her rider's urgings, and she recorded a four-and-a-quarter-length success.

Speaking after the race, jockey Chris Hayes said:

"I rode her the last day and, to be honest, I thought I made a hames of it. I got a real good jump from the gates from a wide draw and I got across, but I took a sit. As soon as I got her in, I half felt like I broke her rhythm and then I was asking her to chase up the straight and she kind of said to me 'no'. I said to Ado I'd like to be positive on her and maybe change up the headgear because I just felt she was a little bit starey going down the last day.

"That's all. The only difference was she got the same gate jump today except I didn't take her back, lay up her neck, rolled around, got a sit across the top and she quickened up in the straight. I thought the last day when I gave her a tap she didn't like it, so I just rode hands and heels today. Hopefully she'll win again."
