BEAU TO HAVE NATIONAL OPTION

Beau is to be entered for the Martell Grand National, trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies confirmed today.

'He`ll get an entry,' said Twiston-Davies, who added he would not rule out the eight-year-old running at Aintree in April after contesting the Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup.

'He may do,' emphasised the trainer.

Beau, runaway winner of the Whitbread Gold Cup last season, put a poor run in the Hennessy Gold Cup behind him when fourth to First Gold in the Pertemps King George VI Chase on Boxing Day.

Twiston-Davies confirmed that the gelding is scheduled to reappear in the Pillar Property Chase at Cheltenham later this month.

Beau is a 20-1 chance for the race with William Hill.
