Beckett has stamina doubts for Puff Ralph Beckett admits to having some concern over the ability of Puff to stay a mile in Sunday's 1000 Guineas at Newmarket. He was unsure whether she would get seven furlongs in the Fred Darling but was pleasantly surprised by how much stamina she showed. "She did it well as she was keen and fresh early," said Beckett. "She pulled pretty hard - harder than we would have liked, but I thought she outstayed them so we were really pleased. "I was a bit sceptical about whether she would get the seven but we were delighted with the run. "I am only even-money about her getting the mile. I think the fact they are likely to go a good clip will suit her and the fact she has had a run will help as he improved for racing last year. "There is nothing in her pedigree that says she wants a mile but as we say her style of running and the way she finished her race at Newbury you would say she probably will get it." Beckett is also likely to run the maiden Nurture, last seen being beaten a nose by Henry Cecil's Oaks favourite Timepiece. "She was third in the Goffs Million under Fran Berry and was quite far back early on and made ground hand over fist to the line," he added. "She then ran in the Montrose and was touched off by Timepiece a month later. "We are still learning about her and she had a minor hold up which is why I haven't been able to run her but she seems in good nick."
