Beckistine makes it ‘lucky 13’ at Limerick Beckistine (4/1) bagged a first success on his 13th attempt today, landing the Limerick Show Handicap Hurdle at Limerick for owner Jennifer Upton-Murphy, her husband trainer Mark Molloy and jockey Mark Walsh. Placed just once previously from 12 starts, the seven-year-old gelding had shown promise at last month’s Listowel festival and today scored a four lengths win over Boston Rajj . Afterwards Molloy reported “I’ve always liked him but he upsides (five-time winner) Bowensonfire when falling here some years ago and I don’t know if it hurt him mentally or physically. He has taken time and physically he is only starting to develop. “He ran on a bit at Listowel the last day and it is all about getting him going forward, and enjoying it. It is great to have him back and he is made to jump a fence.”
