When urged to kick on around the bend, he duly obliged, and although the Johnny Murtagh-trained Rahmi finished with a flurry, he was no match for Benevento who was recording his third victory "We went along for the first couple of furlongs, and then up the hill I was able to get a sit into him and let him freewheel down the hill," said O'Connor. "He took a blow here the last day, but then he got a second wind and I thought he was starting to stay on again towards the finish. I knew he'd get the mile well, and even going down to the start he felt a lot sharper than the last day. "I think there's a bit more to come from him. He lost his way a bit in England, but he did that well there tonight. "He was only doing enough inside the furlong pole. I felt if something had got to his girths, he'd have went on again. Hopefully, this will be the start of building him back up through the grades."
