Berkstar seals Listowel treble for Mullins Trainer Willie Mullins completed a treble on the afternoon as newcomer Berkstar stayed on best to land the concluding Kevin McManus Bookmaker INH Flat Race at Listowel. Runner-up on his sole point-to-point start, the Francis Mangan owned four-year-old was sent to post a well backed 8/11f to make a winning start to his career under Rules. Leading or disputing with main market rival Sierrascope for much of the two-mile contest, the market leader was pushed along to assert entering the home straight. Bravemans Call emerged from out of the pack to throw down the final challenge but Berkstar did enough to secure a game half-length verdict. Willie Mullins said: "He had been showing me plenty at home and I'm very pleased with how he did it. I imagine he might go jumping now rather than going for a winners' bumper, but we'll see. I'll talk to Patrick and he'll tell me what he thinks. "I'm very happy for owner Francis Mangan, who has been involved in horses with me in the past, but that's his first runner for me in his own colours. Francis is involved through Aubrey McMahon's Temple Bloodstock and this is nice for him. "The runner-up (Eoin McCarthy's Bravemans Call) ran a cracker and looks one for the future too."
