Berry Lands Saoire Ride

Frances Crowley has booked Fran Berry to partner her Classic-winning filly Saoire in the Group One Audi Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

The coveted ride on this year´s Irish 1000 Guineas heroine was up for grabs as both Michael Kinane, who rode her to win the Classic, and Crowley´s husband Pat Smullen have been claimed for other fillies in the 10-furlong race.

Crowley was keen to engage a rider with previous experience on Saoire and said: 'Fran won on her when she broke her maiden at Leopardstown last year. He´s a very good jockey who has ridden a good few winners for me.'

Crowley is looking forward to the race but is mindful of the tough task facing her filly against older horses.

She added: 'I´m looking forward to a good run from her. She´s in great form, healthy and well, although it´s always difficult for a three-year-old the first time she meets her elders.'
