Berry Loses Ban Appeal Fran Berry lost his appeal yesterday against a nine-day ban for careless riding.Berry was suspended for his ride on Akram in the Blue Square Poker Maiden at the Curragh on June 24, when his manoeuvre off the rail resulted in Clearing The Water unseating Pat Smullen.Evidence was heard from a number of people, including Smullen and Berry, but the Irish Turf Club appeals and referrals committee upheld the original decision.(C) PA Sport
